If you are looking for a system that is extremely easy to install and use, I suggest taking a look at the Amcrest 960H Video Security System.

EZVIZ Home Security Camera System

The first thing I quite like about the EZVIZ Home Security Camera System is the stylish color and design. I think it’s something to do with the clean white with a pop of bright color that really appeals to me. Something a bit different to your standard black systems. But the looks are not the only great feature of this system.

The EZVIZ Home Security Camera System is truly a Smart Home Camera Kit, which allows you to view the vision remotely using the EZVIZ app. The Digital Video Recorder comes preinstalled with a 1TB hard drive, giving you plenty of storage for video recordings. In addition, security and encryption are included to protect the moments you record.

The cameras in the EZVIZ system are also weatherproof with a rating of IP66 and they provide exceptionally clear 1080p HD video quality. They also have an exceptionally wide viewing angle of 107.5 degrees, allowing the camera to view more of the area you want to see. And as far as night vision goes, they can see up to 100 feet into the distance. The motion detection feature is really handy with this system, as it is customizable by allowing you to choose the locations you want the camera to watch for movement. In addition, you can set up notification schedules to let you know when movements are detected. Great peace of mind for when you are away from your home.

Included in the EZVIZ kit is

  • 4 x 1080p HD TVI Analog Bullet Cameras
  • 1 x 4 Channel TVI DVR
  • 1 x 1TB WD Purple Hard Drive (Installed)
  • 1 x USB Mouse
  • 1 x Ethernet Cable
  • 1 x HDMI Cable
  • 1 x Power Supply for DVR
  • 4 x 60ft Power + Video Cables
  • 4 x Mounting Screws and Plugs
  • 4 x Mounting Templates
  • 1 x Quick Start Guide
  • 1 x Camera Installation Guide

  • 3 x Theft Deterrent Stickers

You can get up and running with your own security system very quickly with the EZVIZ Home Security Camera System.

Smonet 4CH 1080P HD Wireless Network/IP Security Camera System

Are you looking for a wireless security system? This system from Smonet might just be the one you are looking for. It comes with 4 security cameras that produce 1080P HD quality video, also with a weatherproof rating of IP66. They connect to your system wirelessly with the use of your existing home network. With an easy setup without the need for wiring the cameras to the digital video recorder, you will be up and running in no time. Each camera does, however, require cabling for power.

Night vision up to 65ft, which is pretty standard these days. Also, you can access the vision remotely with the use of their app, including motion alerts over the internet. The digital video recorder comes with a 2TB hard drive pre-installed, giving you plenty of storage.

Overall, the Smonet Wireless Security Camera System is worth looking at if you are looking for a system for your home that is wireless and easy to set up.

The Smonet Package includes:

  • 1×4CH WIFI NVR(with 2TB HDD)
  • 4×1080P Waterproof IP Cameras
  • 4×Power Supply (12V-1A) for Cameras (Cable Length: 10 Feet)
  • 1×Power Supply(12V-2A) for NVR (Cable Length: 3.3 Feet)
  • 1×Network Cable (Length: 3.3 Feet)
  • 1×Mouse
  • 1×User Manual
  • 1×Screw Bag

Just a final note. Personally, I do like purchasing wireless electronics. It makes for a smarter home. However, with a wireless security system, you do run the risk of your home network failing, which would result in no vision being recorded. By all means, if you are like me, then purchase a wireless system. But just be wary that the cost of a wireless system will be higher, but the reliability may be lower. In addition, I have read some reviews from consumers where they had some issues with the antennas. Might be something to consider. It could be worth buying a wired system for more reliability.

Annke 8CH 960H CCTV DVR Recorder with 4x 800TVL Outdoor Fixed Dome Cameras

If dome cameras are your preference, then this security system from Annke might be the one for you. It comes with 4 1280TVL dome cameras made from high quality weatherproof metal, IP66 rated, providing you with crisp, clear image under all lighting conditions, during the day or night. In addition, this system also includes motion detection and email alerts to notify you when some movement is being recorded.

As with most systems, this model also allows for easy and quick remote access, so you can access the cameras anytime and from anywhere in the world. This model also comes with a built in USB port for easy backing up and transferring of your footage to a USB flash drive or hard drive.

The Annke kit includes:

  • 1×8CH DVR, NO HDD pre-installed
  • 4×1280TVL wired dome cameras
  • 2×12V 2A power supply
  • 1×IR remote control
  • 4×60ft video power cable
  • 1×4-1 splitter cable
  • 1×USB mouse
  • 1×User manual & CD

The one downside to this system is that it does not come with a hard drive pre-installed. However, this can be seen as a positive because it makes your purchase cheaper overall, and you can source your own hard drive, potentially for cheaper than you would pay for one pre-installed. Also, the Annke Digital Video Recorder can take a hard drive up to 6TB.

If you prefer dome cameras, and the ability to buy your own hard drive, then take a look at this Annke Security system.

Annke 8-Channel HD-TVI 1080P Lite Video Security System DVR and 4 Weatherproof Indoor/Outdoor Cameras

What sets the Annke Security System apart from the rest is that the digital video recorder comes with a smart search function to save your playback time by easily locating the vision when motion is detected. What it does is plays back the vision at a faster speed, but when motion is detected, it returns to normal speed. An excellent feature if you don’t have time to search through your recordings.

This system comes with 4 720p indoor/outdoor cameras with up to 66ft range at night. Plus with a weatherproof rating of IP66, these cameras will last. Again, you have the ability to view the vision remotely on a smartphone, tablet or PC using their easy to use app. Plus email alerts with images to notify you what has happened.

Like the Sannce system, the Annke also does not come with a hard drive pre-installed. But like I said before, this gives you the option to source exactly the size hard drive you want, for a better price. This system can actually take up to 6TB!

Included in this package is:

  • 1x 8CH 1080N DVR, NO HDD Included
  • 4x 720P HD Wired Cameras
  • 4× 60ft BNC video cable
  • 1x Power Adapter
  • 1x User Manual
  • 1x Software CD

Overall, the Annke security camera system is perfect to get your security system up and running in no time.

Thank you Andrew for the information. I am going to refer this page to my Aunt who is living alone and may need some security. It sure is important these days! I like the Sannce 8 channel the best I think but I may contact you for more information.

Hi Marcia, thank you for your comment. Yes, the Sannce model is a nice choice as it comes with the dome cameras rather than the bullet style. By all means, if you need more information please contact me and I will help you, or your Aunt, to choose the right system for the situation.

It would be nice to have a system that can be used as wired and wireless. There are areas that I would like to cover with wired cameras and areas that I would like to cover with wireless cameras.

    1. Andrew Post author

Hi Tony, you can get systems with both wired and wireless cameras. There is this system by Lorex as an example. A bit more pricey than your standard wired or wireless models, but if it what you require, then it might be worth the investment. I’ll be reviewing more systems so I’ll definitely put systems that offer wired and wireless cameras on the list. Thanks!

  4. Nnamdi

Wow, I love every one of those security cameras you just listed above. Seriously I don’t even know which one to choose but I think I love the Smonet better.

Are they all waterproof with wifi? They can be connected to my mobile phones?

    1. Andrew Post author

Hi Nnamdi, the Smonet is a great model because it is wireless. However, I am always wary of connection problems when it comes to wireless devices. Yes, the cameras are waterproof so they can withstand all weather conditions outdoors. Most models can be connected to your mobile phone as long as the Digital Video Recorder is connected to your home network/the internet. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me again.
