Best Indoor Security Cameras

By | December 5, 2016

A lot of times on the news I hear of people being surprised by robbers inside their homes. Robbers will usually resort to this tactic if they are aware of valuables that they cannot find. By having the best indoor security cameras, you will be able to see everything that is transpiring in your house. This will be extremely beneficial for people wanting to check up on the cleaner and the babysitter as well.

Indoor cameras come in many shapes and sizes and they all have different purposes. It can be a good idea to buy an indoor  security camera that can be concealed, as this will allow you to freely watch and even identify intruders in your house and they will not even be aware of it.

We have decided to give you a few tips to consider before buying an indoor security camera.

Top tips to consider before buying

  • Quality: Once again I refer to the quality. The quality of the camera should be impeccable and you will need to have an item that is resistant to water and tampering. To prevent tampering you will need to consider something that is wireless or a camera where the wires can be concealed.
  • Resolution: The higher the resolution, the better the quality of the image. If you want to best chance for the authorities to identify the thief, then you may want to consider a camera with the best resolution. In addition, if your camera can detect small things in the house, it may give you clues that someone has been inside. A higher resolution camera may cost you more, but it is difficult to place a price on your safety.
  • Remote access: Having remote access via the web or possibly on an app will swing the entire advantage of surprise in your favor. Now you will be able to spot intruders before even arriving and if you could add a 2-way speaker to the system, you may even want to notify them that you are watching.
  • Concealment: While this may not matter when you are dealing with intruders, it may be great for checking up on someone that does not know about the camera. This can be extremely beneficial when looking at whether the babysitter is actually doing their job

Considering these four tips will help you gain a better understanding of what exactly it is that you are looking for. This will help you choose a better-suited camera. Plus you could choose a camera with night vision so you will still be able to catch someone trying to intrude even when all the lights are off.

Final Thoughts

Many people neglect the inside of their house when it comes to security equipment and then you will be in danger. By choosing one of these cameras you are eliminating the risk of surprise and building up that second line of defense.

Are all of these able to connect to an app on your phone? I’d really like that feature so I can check on things when I’m at work.

Hi Sarah, thanks for commenting! Yes, all of these cameras can connect to an app on your smartphone. They are really handy to keep an eye on things when you are not home.

I really enjoyed this article. Thanks for putting all this together. I cannot stress enough how important it is to buy a camera with great resolution. My friend had the thieves on camera but the quality was so poor that the authorities couldn’t use it.

Resolution is really important. If you have a camera with poor resolution, then is there really any point to having the camera? Probably not, because you won’t be able to identify anyone in the vision. Thanks for commenting!

Logitech Circle Wireless 1080p looks really useful and it also sends pics at the same time and what do you think of durability of cameras? Which one of them gives the best value for the money?

    1. Andrew Post author

My pick of the bunch is the Logitech Circle. It is slightly more expensive, but it is great quality. Alternatively, if you are looking for great value for money, my choice would be the Amcrest IP2M-841. You get a lot of the great features, for a really affordable price.

That is great advice. This day and age home security is one way to be able to have that sense of security while you are away or asleep in your home. All the cameras you mentioned are great to have. I particularly like the Netgear Arlo camera. The cloud feature is nice and I don’t have to worry about memberships. And these things you can hook into any system am I right?

As long as you have the internet with WiFi, any of these cameras can be basically plugged in and they are ready to go. I totally agree that having a security camera gives you that peace of mind knowing you can keep an eye on things when not at home. Thanks for your comment!

  5. David

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for writing and sharing this list. I’m a new homeowner and I want to install a home security system in my home for both insurance purposes and to protect my family.

Now these cameras all look great but I’m kind of looking for something that oscillates back and forth. Do they still make these? If they do are they real expensive? I know that my employer has a ton of cameras everywhere but none of them move. So that makes me think that they may be super expensive.

    Thanks again

Hi David, Thanks for your comment. Yes they do still make cameras that oscillate back and forth and depending on what other features you are after, they are not as expensive as you might think. For example, this YI Dome Camera can give you full 360 degree monitoring capability. And right now it is only $79.99. Many more camera reviews to come so feel free to come back and check them out.
