Schlage BE365 Review
Are you looking for a security deadbolt that is easy to install, offers the opportunity to create and delete a large number of access codes, and is guaranteed to fit your door? Then look no further than the Schlage BE365VCAM619 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt.
Well, I have four kids, plus many extended family members and this deadbolt would be extremely handy so that all of my family can access my home without the need to get more keys cut.
Sounds awesome right. Read on for more information.
Benefits of the Schlage BE365
First things first, you can create up to 19 access codes for family members and trusted friends. Having so many access codes means that you can give the people you trust access, and keep unwanted people out.
What makes this great is that it actually makes you feel much more safer. I mean think about if something goes wrong in your house and you need someone to gain access. For a standard lock, this is limited to the people you give a key to. With the Schlage BE365, set up codes for all the important people in your life, or the people that will help you out in an emergency. And then you’re set.
How to use the Schlage BE365
The Schlage BE365 can be installed in minutes – no wiring is needed. All you need is a screwdriver. The deadbolt fits all standard doors. The silicone-coated keypad is really easy to install and prevents numbers from wearing off. The wide variety of style and finish options allows users to coordinate the look to suit their homes.
Just choose a trim style and enjoy your newfound security and eye-pleasing aesthetic.
Lost, forgotten or stolen keys? You will no longer need to worry about that.
When you install the deadbolt, it is pre-programmed with two access codes for immediate use. The back-lit keypad and low battery indicator are just two of its many practical features.

Who is the Schlage BE365 for?
It is perfect for large families, as I touched on earlier, because of the number of codes you can program in.
In general terms, if you are looking for a smart looking, electronic deadbolt to provide you with that extra level of security, then go no further.
What I like about the Schlage BE365
The deadbolt has a premium, top-class metal construction and a 3-year limited electronics warranty, as well as a limited finish and mechanical warranty. As mentioned, the silicone-coated pad prevents wear. The keypad lights up if you press the top middle button. It’s totally weather-proof – neither extreme cold nor extreme heat or rain can cause the bolt to malfunction.
If the pad does happen to malfunction, the bolt comes with keys so you can unlock the door manually.
The lock is also impossible to “bump” because the outside cylinder rotates freely until you push the right key in to turn only the part that is on the inside.
If the battery fails, you can use the backup keys the lock is equipped with. It can also be rekeyed to match other locks of the same brand.
Another great option is that this deadbolt can be put in backwards.
That’s right, you can install it backwards. But what you would do is set up a coded door handle in the reverse as well as a standard keypad on the other side. This way, the deadbolt will keep people that don’t live there from coming in, and anyone needing to get out will have to know the code too.
However please note!
If you do consider this option, you might have to check with your city’s building department to see if this is permitted in your jurisdiction. Some cities ban locking any and all doors from the inside even if many alternative doors and routes are available. To me, this makes sense as it is an added risk in the case you need to exit your home quickly. You wouldn’t want to be trying to key in your code while escaping from a fire…..
What I don’t like about the Schlage BE365
The item is relatively heavy and large – 5.3 pounds and 4.2 x 3.2 x 5.5 inches.
If you don’t punch in the correct code from the outside or do but don’t turn the knob, it will keep spinning freely and won’t open. If you want it to automatically lock behind you after you close the door, this is not going to happen – this lock was intended to have someone turn the knob themselves to lock it.
If you install it wrong, it might start unlocking automatically when you press the logo at the top. You need to shift the internal mechanism some degrees. Also, your storm door might not close properly. To resolve this, you can switch the bolt and handle to suit.
This security deadbolt is great for large families, reliable and easy to operate. One last note – the keypad might not light up and operate correctly. This is not a defect; it only means that you have to put the battery in. it is included in the package. If you enter the wrong code, it will light up red. Otherwise it will light up green, signaling proper operation. If you decide to buy this item, you absolutely won’t regret it!
